Outdoor tree in informal upright style and ceramic brown rectangular pot.
Juniperus Chinensis, known as chinese juniper, or shimpaku, is a slow growing conifer. Its defining features include its two types of foliage: the juvenile form is needle-like and the mature foliage is small scale-leaves. They bud back well even into old wood on the trunk line and foliage and further ramification can be achieved with an appropriate pruning regime.
This is a large and refined bonsai in informal upright style. It has a visible taper, an interesting trunk line with lots of movement, natural deadwood, and beautiful root flare/anebari. Developed, hard pruned, and potted, this is a healthy plant and does not need any substantial work for now beyond appropriate plant care. It is potted in a ceramic rectangular bonsai pot in a free-draining custom mixed soil with akadama, shredded sphagnum moss, and other aggregates.
