Outdoor tree in an informal upright style and ceramic brown glazed pot.
Please note that the second photograph is of the tree in the Spring or Summer months, to show the tree in bloom. The branches have set, the tree is no longer wired, and the foliage is more full, as in the first and third photographs.
The Satsuki Azalea is a moderate growing deciduous tree. Its defining features include beautiful and fragrant bell-shaped flowers, with smooth patterned bark. They bud back very easily even into old wood on the trunk, and on cut branches with no remaining foliage.
This is a refined bonsai in an informal upright style. It is quite a large and old bonsai, with a visible taper, an interesting trunk line with lots of movement, branches already set in position, and beautiful root flare/nebari. Developed, hard pruned, wired, refined, and potted, this is a healthy plant and does not need any substantial work for now beyond appropriate plant care. It is potted in a nice brown ceramic bonsai pot, in a free-draining custom soil mix with akadama, shredded sphagnum moss, and other aggregates.
These are specialist outdoor trees that require specialist care:
