Chamaecyparis Nana Gracilis, known as Hinoki Cypress, is a slow-growing, dwarf evergreen conifer. It is known for its irregular growth patterns forming natural pyramidal pads of green, scale-like leaves. These trees do not bud back easily but their slow growth rate and natural pads makes them ideal bonsai subjects requiring little pruning to maintain shape.
This is a semi-refined bonsai in an informal upright style. It was grown from a cutting and has developed a strong root structure with the foliage pruned and trunk and branches wired into shape with lots of movement. This is a healthy plant that does not need any substantial work for now beyond appropriate plant care and careful removal of wire once the branches have set. It is potted in a small bonsai pot in a free-draining custom peat-free mixed soil with high quality akadama, sand, grit, and bark.
